Some things to know about barn wood
(that the other guys won't tell you)
Barnwood is from standing structures that have either been deemed unworthy of repair or selected for demolition for other reasons. Most of these old structures were built in a mixture of species based on what trees were in the way during construction. These pieces will have any and unknown amounts of saw marks, nails and nail holes, other metal artifacts, cracks, checks, splits, signs of one-time bug infestation, color and texture.
All of our barn wood is either kiln dried or shop treated for insect infestation.
This material is never 100% usable and don't let anyone tell you otherwise: it always needs to be qualified for professional use. This material requires lots of labor to go from these 80+ year-old-structures to your project. We know what to do and how to do.
Our barnwood is also available in a resawn product that measures 3/8" thickness and random widths and lengths and has been sized on the edges making installation a breeze requiring only a liquid adhesive. Small finish nails are suggested in addition. Typically these boards are 1" in thickness and random widths and lengths. Other parts of the barn can yield 2" - 4" thicknesses and up to 12" in widths and random lengths. Other sizes are available upon request.
